Alright so upon weighing myself recently I came to the most horrifying realization...Since moving here I have gained FIFTEEN pounds!!!! After picking my jaw up off the floor, and wondering how that even happens in such a short span of time I started coming up with a game plan. The first step in the game plan was being honest with myself, how did this happen? Well it happened when I moved to a small town with no sidewalks before a hellacious winter. I haven't been walking, before living here I walked everywhere (not that I was dainty then). Pretty easy to pack on weight when you are being completely sedentary. So on Ravelry I found a group Called Couch to 5k, I've always wanted to RUN in a 5k not walk so I signed up and printed out the information to get started. Well like I've said it's been raining here, so much so the Boston Globe published a how to for Ark building. Now I know "real runners" hit the asphalt regardless, but I my friend am a clumsy overweight mother with a bad foot. So Mr. Bunny ordered me Active for our Wii. It has a thirty day challenge. I tried it out and I LOVE it, way better than Wii fit nonstop exercise for 30 minutes. The game doesn't joke either, it won't count it if you do it wrong, so say you did 5 squats wrong, those don't count for you tally. Ask me how I know? I thought that would be a good start before I tried to Couch to 5k, and by then maybe the rain will take a break.
Next up was reevaluating my eating habits. So I signed up for Spark People. It's a phenomenal free website for tracking your exercise, meals etc. It's the Ravelry of weight loss. I started tracking my eating, I found out on average I don't consume enough calories. Apparently not eating breakfast and lunch is not healthy? Alright I knew that, but tracking it makes me eat. They also have a recipe site it's great because you can put it right on your meal plan. Very handy, Super fabulous and FREE!!!Did I say it was free? Yes, oh okay moving on. So that explains the ticker on the side, I have got a lot to lose, a lot more than I realized.
I'm sharing this here because I know a lot of us are trying to be more healthy, and I though these resources might be helpful for you as well. Feel free to friend me on Spark People if you are on there, or decide to join. I am HBKnits on there. Would anyone like to join me? What are your favorite tips for being healthy? I won't say diet because for me it's more than that, it's being in shape again and feeling fabulous. Any favorite foods? I have a new one, Skinny Cow Truffle Bars. It's love...

Interesting resources; I shall have to check them out. I'm in the same boat as you are, after a sedentary winter. Plus, I'm a comfort eater, so during bad times, I eat more, and more crap, and as a result, I've hit a new high. I will be ready soon, I think, to do something about it. Not quite there yet. Best wishes for you!
I admire your determination!
Here I am going along, get up, survive, go to bed.....! I should join you. Make it public, then I'll have to do it?
